Canva is hands down the absolute best design program for beginners and seasoned graphic designers alike!

Do you have a website or social media? If you answered yes to either, you will benefit from Canva. With hundreds of pre-made templates Canva will not disappoint!

So what exactly is Canva? “Canva, your secret weapon for stunning design

Design anything in minutes with thousands of beautiful templates and images.” They did a good job explaining!

You’re probably thinking that is sounds good but are already worried about the price…well don’t fret, for only $120 you can get their PRO version for the entire year

Why Canva is The Absolute Best Design Program For Beginners

  • The easy to use interface is perfect for beginning graphic designers! If you utilize the “Brand Kit” you can upload your logo, brand colors and fonts so that all of your designs stay consistent with your company!

Check out my Brand Kit below.

  • They have so many templates already created for you so you will never run out of ideas! From holidays to sales to engagement announcements they have what you need. And if you utilize the Brand Kit you can just go in make a couple changes and vwahla you’ve got yourself a stunning graphic to share!
  • They not only give you templates but also STOCK IMAGES that are included with you PRO Plan!

I use Canva’s stock images for social media, my website, and I even created my wedding invitations using their clip art! If I haven’t convinced you yet that Canva is the absolute best graphic design software for beginners, keep reading!

  • Canva realizes the image requirements for the different social channels and they make it so easy to make sure that you’re graphics are always the right size! With the click of one button you can reformat a Facebook image (1200 X 628 pixels) to an Instagram image (1080 X 1080 pixels).

The only two image sizes that I have found they do not have auto-populated are for LinkedIn (1104 X 736 pixels) and for Google My Business posts (497 X 373 pixels). They do realize that you may want to make custom image sizes which is why there is a “Custom Dimensions” option.

For more information on image sizes click here.

  • Canva also realizes that if you’re like me, you might be managing MULTIPLE brands at one time. To help with this they have some added features (although some are added costs). You can add multiple brands to your Brand Kit which so far for me has been free with my Pro Plan. You can also “Create A Team”. This means that you can invite folks to create, edit and share your designs (this is an added cost). They even give you the ability to create folders. I have a folder per client and store all of their graphics in each folder. This makes it very easy for me to access graphics from any computer since it is all web-based!
  • Lastly, if you are a true beginner to design and have never used a program to create graphics, they offer a Design School! They have a “Graphic Design Basics” course that offers 12 lessons to help you “Learn the basics of graphic design to boost your creative confidence”. I have not personally taken this course but know folks who have and in their opinions it is well worth the 22 minutes!

I am not trying to sell anyone this software, I’m simply sharing my knowledge in hopes of saving some of your some time and money. That being said, if you do want to give Canva a shot, they do offer a 30-day free trial which I would highly suggest trying before you buy! Check it out at www.canva.com

If you currently use Canva or if you have not but end up giving it a try, I would love to hear what you think of the program! Drop me a comment below.
